Training and Education

Jails and their residents had, historically, been surrounded by a negative connotation. It is in our nature to isolate, and not only physically, those who erred against their fellows. This adds yet another bias to the complex set that includes age, gender, skin color to name a few.

What we tend to overlook is that inmates are also human beings and part of their successful social redemption is, possibly, for them to know they also have rights.

Defending these rights for inmates might help with their reintegration as functional members of society but will also avoid costly legal implications.

The purpose of this course is to introduce those interested to the aspects of suicide prevention in jails and prisons and to practical aspects on how to avoid lawsuits.

The course curriculum, a description and list of modules can be found here.
