This initiative is an important segment of the educational process in suicide prevention in jails and prisons.
Its intended audience is all correctional personnel in contact with inmates, from administrative professionals involved in policy making and operational procedure design and implementation to correctional officers and professionals in the medical field.

The material presented in this section can be viewed as hands-on experience to the educational course.

Both the course and cases form an important defense to due-diligence, in situations in which suicide could not have been prevented and litigation ensues. In addition, the registered user has the opportunity to think, thus be directly involved, in solving these cases in a virtual environment. Critical thinking not only builds confidence while avoiding costly litigation but allows each participant to develop their own procedures in handling similar or completely new situations.

It is important to remember that all professionals involved with handling an inmate can suffer the consequences of litigation on an individual basis.

STRUCTURE DETAILS

Case discussions are centered on real-life cases. Some of the presented cases are unique in their presentation and so are their circumstances. Each case will then have a set of practical questions. Please try to find solutions to each question and post them online.

You are offered the opportunity to experience various situations and how they were handled in real-life.
You will also be offered the option of presenting your approach to the case and asking questions. These questions will be replied to by dr. Daniel who offers insight and his expertise.

Each case will be posted online within the first 10 days of the month. Questions will be answered in their posting order.
